He does projects where you have to disfigure a computer and put it back together. Rick takes all his computer work seriously and loves to see his student succeed in every test and certification. He helps a student when it seems to be in trouble with a lab or question. He also gives students a chance to explore their computer skills. HE'S AWESOME. Mr. Garcia consistently brings more educational opportunities to Moorpark College. He does this by learning the most up to date/high demand skills that is popular in computer networking field(cloud/cybersecurity). Once he becomes knowledgeable in the field, he creates a class based on certification/skill to share his knowledge on what he has learned and encourages students to go get certified. Recently, Mr. Garcia has helped with getting technical certification grants to help pay/fund student's certifications. Knowing how costly certification exam are, this has motivated students to go and study and get their certifications during their time at Moorpark College. Moreover, his classroom doors are always open to students and provides a great community for networking students to study, learn, work with hands on labs, and discussions. Outside the classroom he is highly accessible through email or phone. If the topic is too broad, he encourages students to come by the classroom and have a discussion(these talks go deeper into details). During his in class lectures, he is energetic and enthusiastic about the topics discussed through lecture. Through his many years working in IT industry and many more as a professor at Moorpark College, there is no doubt that he will ever loose his passion for the field of IT.

For an online stand point you can't always tell if the teachers read what you do but with Roberta I can tell she does. And for me that helps a lot and she is very kind and atentive to her students and makes sure they get the help they need. She also has the most organized page on the EGCC Dashboard for me to be able to follow my HW and test for all due dates. Tom Bennett is a great example of a perfect teacher. He is extremely responsive and gives constructive feedback, even positive feedback which is really a nice change from the usual slum of teachers that I often am forced to experience. One thing that has made a profound impact on my experience was his teaching style. He allows his students to turn in an extensive project in 3 parts. This allows the student to learn as they go. Why this is important to me is because I have often made mistakes that were unintentional. I do understand that as a student I should be responsible for reading the directions correctly and being prompt if I have questions. However, often things can be unclear, systems can fail, and things don't go as planned, especially online. I commend him for being so quick to answer questions and keeping a calm, collected, and influential attitude during my course. Thank you for the opportunity to be able to shed some light on an amazing teacher, and I hope that I have more classes with him in the future.

He is kind, experienced and not afraid to admit some concepts are difficult to grasp unless you're willing to fight through some confusion. I was fortunate enough to want to learn about subnetting (including CIDR), something very ambitious when I was had just moved on from installing and connecting PC components. He let and even facilitated me going down that rabbit hole, making sure I could navigate it before it was even certain I'd make it into networking. Doesn't mean I don't still take part every time the subject of subnetting comes up. He also understands that I had no IT background experience or knowledge coming in, but he made sure that I was able to not just pass the TestOut PC Pro but to pass the CompTIA A+ as well. Then we moved on to Network Pro, CompTIA Server 2016 Install and Storage, and the corresponding CompTIA Network+. I don't think I'd have gotten as far if not for the connections I made in his class. He really knows how to bring out the best in students and coax out that hidden/underestimated talent and affinity for technology. His encouragement and the stories he has shared are what got me through the self-doubt and confusion every time they reared their heads.

He somehow managed to encourage motivation from students that I am sure would not have had it otherwise, and gain the interest of those that this program is best suited for. He cultivated an environment in which the students learned, and challenged one another to be ambitious and tackle the problem. He also cultivated a unique classroom environment in which anyone that had an answer to a question and was certain of it, was forced to second guess their answer...no matter how certain, in such a fashion that they were forced to refine their opinion in the fires of how any alternative side might view it, and the result was either a polished answer given confidently or a humble, healthy opportunity to restructure and learn, with respect for both the teacher and the topic.

I would like to take a moment of your day to talk about a teacher who I have had several classes with, Mike Eno.

When I was in high school, Mike Eno was my first ever computer information systems teacher. He taught a very interactive curriculum using the TestOut PC Pro course, and also made many lesson plans around the program. He strives to make every lesson a unique and engaging, far more than any other teacher I have ever had. He is also one of the only teachers I have had who will sit down with interested students and listen to ways to make the classes better.

I am now attending community college, where he is not only active in one, but two community colleges. I was fortunate enough to take his cybersecurity class that utilized TestOut Security Pro. He would constantly find thought-provoking videos for our class to watch and discuss, and come up with real life labs for us to do alongside the curriculum. He is also an active leader in our SkillsUSA New Hampshire program. He has helped many of his eager students study and prepare for SkillsUSA competitions where students from other schools compete with technical skills (such as networking, computer maintenance, etc) for first place including myself. He has helped me win first place in the computer networking competition at the state level and achieve top 30 at the national level.

When I was falling behind in Linux plus, he encouraged me that I could catch up and did everything in his power to help me and the rest of his students. He also commended me when I was doing well. He is very engaging. I remember my first day I went to go see my academic advisor who happened to be across the hall from his office. My advisor was not at the office at the scheduled time and Tobin saw me, introduce himself, and went out of his way to message the advisor to see if he was still in class instructing. Before I signed up for the course Mr. Scroggins taught, I did not know how a computer worked beyond turning it on and getting on the internet. After 2 years in his class, I can say that I've fallen in love with computer science and now I am working towards my degree in Computer Networking and Information Systems Security and I strongly believe this is thanks to Mr. Scroggins. He worked hard every day to make sure each student understood each lesson, he went on and beyond to make sure his class had hands-on experience and new incredible projects to work on, he talked about his personal experiences in the tech field and prepared us, students, to be job-ready after high school with our Testout certification and this was his goal. Even though he is no longer my teacher I am glad I was able to be a student in his class when I did.

I am, a 39-year-old adult, and to be honest I was afraid of going back to school for the first time in almost twenty years in 2018. However, when I meet Ed Scoville, for the first time, he not only helped ease my fears, but he reassured me that I was not alone on this journey. And because of this, it is beyond easy to explain the quality and type of teacher that Ed Scoville is. He is not only in my eyes but other students as well the best teacher that the Blackhawk I.T. Program has. I have been with Blackhawk Tech since 2018 and Mr. Scoville has made every semester enjoyable. He is a teacher that expects the best out of every student, and he helps make sure we take responsibility for our education. He never belittles a student or makes them feel like they are not important. An has always made as many concessions as he can to accommodate every request. Even if it means he stays longer to make sure we have the answers we need. Because of this, he does not allow any student to feel like they are not part of the class. He is a very honest and sincere person who is always trying to make the program better for every student. If you want success you need to put forth the effort, and because of Mr. Scoville, there is no question that students that have been taught by him will be successful. Furthermore, it has been great getting to know Ed as a person and see how he cares for every student that comes to the program. It is teachers like him that make college worth going to. So, in my opinion, Blackhawk Technical college has only benefited from the knowledge and kindness of Mr. Scoville.

She goes out of her way for all of her students. The classes are mostly online but she answers any questions that I may have no matter if it is the weekend, night time, on spring break, any time she usually responds in a matter of minutes. Her desire is to help all of her students succeed. She understands life may have unexpected events that may interrupt a student's time management and she helps to get through this if the student lets her know as soon as they can. It's like her life is about the students she teaches, at least since I have been taking classes from her. I have had her as an instructor for the last couple of years and she is awesome. She challenges the students that are ahead in class while taking the time for the ones that are struggling. Even during the summer I email her and she finds time to answer my questions and help me get what answers I am looking for, The program I am in is not in her department and I wanted to change my program, so she found the paperwork for me online to be able to do this.
